Hi! My name is Krista, and I have been teaching piano at Upper Columbia Academy since 2008. It is very rewarding to teach at a high school where music is an important part of every school day. I love that my students get credit for their music lessons and that their practice times are built into their school day schedules.
In my free time, I get to enjoy living in a wheat field a few miles from campus with my husband and two sons. I love music and teenagers, I like to cook (and eat), and I always have several crafting and sewing projects going on. I am trying to learn to love my morning workouts, and I have a puppy named Taffy who gives me a reason to go walking every night.
Before opening my studio at UCA, I was a certified Kindermusik instructor and also directed a handbell choir at UCA Elementary School. I have been teaching piano lessons on a part-time basis for many years. Currently, I’m teaching piano full-time and have about 35 students.
My students are the reason I love my job—there is never a boring moment! Sharing the joy of making music and watching my students grow is a privilege that I thank God for each and every day.
